What I built
A fast static site that loads quickly, even on a weak phone signal.
A mobile-first layout, built for phones first, then tablets and desktops.
Clear contact and ride information, with a contact form, email and phone.
An Instagram section that shows the community side of the work.
Email on their own domain, set up so messages reach the founder.
A pro bono project. Visit the live site (opens in a new tab)

Left of the divider: the 2019 site (Wayback Machine). Right: the site today.
What changed
A layout that fits phones, tablets and desktops, with a menu button on small screens.
A secure HTTPS connection.
A Donate button in the main menu, linked to online giving.
Labeled navigation and carousel controls, plus descriptive alt text.
A cookie notice with clear Accept and Decline buttons.
A tap-to-call phone link and a Facebook page feed.
Page description, social tags and structured data, so search engines know it's a nonprofit.

- A sticky call button. Call to Order stays in reach, so ordering is one tap away.
- A text menu. The menu is real text, easy to read on a phone.
- A catering form. Catering sits in the main menu, with a request form.

About
Hi, I'm Yao.
I'm a freelance web designer and college student, based in Bay Shore, Long Island, and Queens.
You work with me directly, from the first mock-up to launch. I'm building my portfolio, so my first clients get founding prices.
How much does it cost?
Founding prices for my first clients: Starter $500 and Standard $1,000. Regular prices are $750 and $1,500.
You pay 30% to start, 35% at design approval and the rest before launch.
That's $150 / $175 / $175 for Starter, and $300 / $350 / $350 for Standard. The mock-up is free.
How long does it take?
About 2 weeks for a Starter site. About 3–4 weeks for a Standard site.
It depends on how fast we review the design and get your content.
Who owns my website?
You do. Once the final payment is made, the finished site and its content are yours.
Stock photos and fonts stay under their own licenses.
Is maintenance required?
No. There's no monthly fee. After launch, changes are flat-priced: $25 for a small edit, $60 for a larger update.
I'll also help you set up hosting at no charge.
What do you need from me?
Your business name, your current website if you have one, and a 15-minute call.
Then your logo, photos, hours, services and any text you want. No photos yet? I can use licensed stock until you have them.
